Becca in Washington D.C.

Tuesday, November 19th, 2002

I visited the girl in D.C. this past weekend. It's been a month since I saw her last, much too long. We certainly made the best of the weekend though.

Planes

Southwest is utterly awesome (though not nearly as cool as Becca). Cheap rates from Providence to Baltimore and packed flights that have plenty of legroom. Now that's how an airline is supposed to be run!

Trains

Becca meet me at the airport and from there we hoped a bus to the metro. Talk about easy. Becca was really cool; she had everthing all planed out and it made things really easy for me. I could just gape at her and not worry about where I was going.

Wizards

Yes, Friday night just happened to be the opening night of Harry Potter and The Chamber of Secrets and Becca just happened to have tickets for herself and I, as well as eight other people. Needless to say the movie was good, the crowd enthusiastic, and Becca good at comforting me when I got scared.

Food

We got some pretty decent meals, including one at a rather odd place. It was billed as an Italian restaurant. They certainly had Italian food. But they also served lobster, and Jose Curevo 1800. Not exactly Italian fare. The music wasn't Italian either, it was pretty much the top forty. Nevertheless, the place was nice and the food was good. 'Course, it could have been the company. I once told Becca that I could be eating dry sticks and it'd taste good just as long as she was nearby. And what-do-you-know but she goes and finds a restaurant named "Twigs". No, we did not sample the twigs. My guess is that by twig they ment "The current style; the fashion" and not "Any small, leafless branch of a woody plant".

Return

The return trip sucked. Not only did I have to leave Becca behind, I had to leave her cool roomates (Hi, Steph, Hi Julie), and the ride was bumpy. Well, not all that bumpy to someone who's had some rather exciting flights in a Cessna 172. But the other passengers thought it was rough.

Forward

At least Becca is coming home this weekend. And we got tickets to see Les Miz when she gets done with her project.
